→ Favourite Scott McCall scene

I just think this scene contrasts Scott’s heroism really well alongside his normality. He’s just a teenager who has been thrown into a situation where people around him are dying and he takes responsibility for each of them. I think often Scott’s character is judged too harshly, but reality is if any of us were put in this situation we wouldn’t have a clue what to do either! But despite not really knowing what to do, he has this innate nature to protect all of those around him. Even Jackson, who he has every reason to hate, he does everything he can to save. So that’s what I think this scene captures which is really pure - the innocence of Scott as well as his heroic impulse.

Here’s the thing about Scott: He’s 16.

When the show starts, he’s 16. He’s not a hero. He’s not exemplary. He’s not a shining star. That’s kinda the point of his character. He’s average. He’s not the smartest kid in school (that’s would be Lydia) nor the most athletic…
